The Immigrant

Poetry assignment at the OU

March

with assured backs over the meadows.

March,

following the seasons, avoiding the willows.

When asked:

how could you

leave behind your mother?

Or, it is but a sham,

it must be a cover. then

shout with uncontested virility,

with a roar that shakes that vicinity:

“Brothers!

the wildebeest

treads from fathom to fathom,

never caring

of a language or a septum.

Brothers!

Ignore the lions and hyenas.

For, they with territories

of excretion,

rely on your march and the lies of cohesion.

Do not bow to their rules of husbandry,

for yours is the mission of life.”

The American Dream

When the Americans do it,

it is complete.

The work of artisans,

the touch of a master.

It hits you like an explosion of flavours,

unexpected:

spicy, never

sweet,

sour.

You learn to appreciate the American

craftsmanship,

with its colours

marinating

the dome of your life.

You learn to see its greatness,

hammered

on your

walls.

When the Americans do it

they do it right.

Nothing,

nothing escapes

their might.

From the past

to your neighbour’s alley,

all get marinated

by the colours,

of the sun’s

fairies:

doom.

Ode to a friend. Of being

A friend of mine composed this monodrama. I reacted to it with a poem: Outside the Realms of Space and Time – a Video Monodrama on Music , Art and philosophy

Amidst the perpetual entropy, a spark is lit
Fleetingly, of course, but it brightened our pit.
It borrowed, from the minds of whom we deem fit-
Thinkers of immense passion and great wit,
A capacity of thoughts to tilt.
But to oblivion to dart and not desist,
Then our lives we must decrypt.
And to leave the gloom and for the rhymes to lilt,
Listen we must to him that pitched
We, despite the temporal, exist!
